Greetings & Introductions

Tu = use with friends, family, children, pets
Vous = use with strangers, bosses, elders, or groups

✅ Tu t'appelles comment? → What's your name? (to a friend)

✅ Comment vous appelez-vous? → What is your name? (formal)

💡 Getting "tu/vous" wrong is a common mistake — when in doubt, use vous!

The most important phrase: Je m'appelle [name] = My name is [name]

✅ Je m'appelle Marie. → My name is Marie.

✅ Enchanté(e)! → Nice to meet you! (add -e if you're female)

✅ Je suis de Paris. → I am from Paris.

Bonjour = Good morning / Good afternoon (until ~6pm)
Bonsoir = Good evening (after ~6pm)
Bonne nuit = Good night (when going to sleep)

✅ Bonjour Madame! → Good morning, Ma'am!

✅ Bonsoir Monsieur! → Good evening, Sir!

French often drops the last letter in pronunciation:

✅ Bonjour → [bon-ZHOOR] (the R is soft, almost silent)

✅ Merci → [mer-SEE]

✅ S'il vous plaît → [seel-voo-PLAY]

💡 In French, the last syllable is usually stressed. Never stress the first syllable like in English!
