📐 Regra: Was para I/He/She/It; Were para You/We/They.

Past Continuous = background/ongoing action (longer).

Past Simple = sudden/completed action (shorter, interrupts).

Pattern: "I WAS STUDYING (continuous) WHEN my phone RANG (simple)."

"While she WAS COOKING (continuous), he WAS CLEANING (continuous)."

📐 Regra: WHEN + Past Simple geralmente interrompe um Past Continuous.

Use Past Continuous to paint a picture before the main event.

"It was a stormy night. The wind WAS HOWLING, the fire WAS CRACKLING, and I WAS READING a mystery novel, when suddenly... I HEARD footsteps."
